The pods of the carob tree are dried, roasted and ground into a powder that resembles cocoa. Carob powder is naturally quite sweet and tastes similar to cocoa, making it an ideal alternative to chocolate. Because carob powder naturally does not contain cocoa protein, it generally does not cause allergic reactions. Carob powder contains no milk solids and no sweeteners have been added. Preparation method: Pour a little warm water onto 2 to 3 heaped teaspoons of powder and stir vigorously to form a smooth paste. Dilute it as desired with warm or cold water (the carob drink becomes fuller in taste if you dilute it with vegetable milk)
